Turtle Island: A huge granite rock rises above the water in the center of the harbor north of Qinbi Village, its cracked surface making it look very much like a gigantic turtle resting quietly in the sea. The waters around this rock—Turtle Island—are crystal clear, giving Qinbi its alternate name of Jingao, or “Mirror Harbor.” According to legend, these special geomantic (fengshui) properties are responsible for Qinbi’s past prosperity.
