Event Introduction

This year's program features diverse activities such as “Juguang from the Sea,” “Dongyin from the Sea,” “Family-Friendly Marine Tours,” and the “Mabi Bay Weekend Market Concert.” Combining ocean perspectives with island culture, visitors are invited to rediscover Matsu in a whole new way.

“Juguang from the Sea” is scheduled to launch in mid-June, offering a limited-time seabird-watching cruise at only NT$300 per person. The tour takes visitors around Dongju or Xiju Island,

providing panoramic ocean views of the islands and their dramatic marine-eroded landscapes. As it coincides with the peak seabird season, visitors can closely admire granite cliffs and military sites,

making it an unforgettable experience for bird lovers and families alike.

The waters around the Matsu Islands have been designated as a “Tern Conservation Area,” home to more than 30 bird species, with terns being the most spectacular.

While sailing around Juguang, visitors may spot species such as the Bridled Tern, Greater Crested Tern, and Roseate Tern soaring across the blue sea and sky.

Among them, the most remarkable is the Chinese Crested Tern, known as the “Mythical Bird,” whose rediscovery once attracted global attention.

From June onward, travelers can extend their experience with activities such as fishing trips or SUP adventures, arranged through local operators, to further explore the beauty of Juguang's marine environment.

“Dongyin from the Sea” begins in April, taking visitors around Dongyin Island for a grand view of this sea fortress.

Along the coast, visitors can see unique rock formations such as Crocodile Rock, sea arches, sea caves, and the famous “Monk Watching the Sea” rock formation.

Professional guides onboard provide in-depth commentary on Dongyin's geology, military history, and ecology, enriching the sightseeing experience.

The “Mabi Bay Weekend Market Concert” will take place on July 24, combining music, markets, and family-friendly activities for a vibrant summer celebration.

The event features balloon performers, acrobats, guzheng musician Xi Xi, and artist Alan Kuo, bringing laughter and music to the seaside evening.

Interactive activities include marine debris art DIY and photo check-in rewards, inviting visitors to enjoy a magical midsummer night under the stars.

In addition to the concert, Matsu offers a variety of summer experiences, including “Nangan SUP Adventures,” marine debris art workshops, and beach ecology tours.

From ocean exploration to cultural and recreational activities, visitors can fully experience the passion and vitality of this island destination.
