About the Shop

Prior to its current iteration as Changti Water Shield Kitchen (荇菜廚房), the location was known as Changti (長堤), a café that retained the distinct charm of the 1980s, primarily serving Western-style light meals.

 

As the consumer structure of the small island evolved, the Cai family's daily private home-style dishes became the most requested fare by customers. Upholding the principle of "Come to Dongyin and eat genuine Dongyin cuisine," the establishment officially transitioned from "Café" to the "Water Shield Kitchen" in 2017.

 

The restaurant specializes in the Cai family's private, seasonal, Omakase (chef's choice) cuisine. The interior boasts exquisite and comfortable décor, offering distinct atmospheres for lunch and dinner, yet maintaining consistent quality and flavor. For a taste of the warm, home-cooked dishes of Dongyin, we welcome you to Changti Water Shield Kitchen.

 

Note on Dining:

  • The Omakase menu is exclusively available from April to October each year. Advance reservation is highly recommended.
  • During the winter tourism off-season (November to March), the space transforms into a specialized factory for processing wild mullet roe ($Wū Yú Zǐ$). Known for its excellent quality and flavor, this product is a sought-after secret among connoisseurs.
