Shangrila Leisure B&B brings a bright stroke of orange to the centre of the Dongyin settlement. It is hard to imagine that this building once stood as an old house. More than twenty years ago, Mr. Chiu Wang-chuan – affectionately known by locals as “Xiang-bà” – opened Xiang Ji Eatery on this very street. His warm hospitality and Taiwanese home-style dishes soon became favourites among stationed servicemen.
Out of his love for Dongyin and his desire to offer every visitor a comfortable stay, he personally oversaw everything from purchasing the land to designing the inn. Inspired by European country-style architecture and constructed with water-resistant and heat-dissipating sandstone and textured plaster, the building was transformed into what is now Shangrila Leisure B&B.
Its signature orange exterior stands out amidst the traditional neighbourhood. Visible even from Zhongzhu Harbour, it seems to open its arms to warmly welcome every traveller. Located in the heart of Dongyin’s town centre and next to the island’s only convenience store, the inn offers excellent accessibility for sightseeing, business, and shopping.
Room types include Seaview Rooms and Art-painted Rooms. Each room is clean and comfortable, equipped with a 32-inch TV, air-conditioning, a mini-fridge, a broadband-enabled computer, an electric kettle, a dehumidifier, and a bathroom with separate wet and dry areas. Large windows allow guests to fully enjoy the breathtaking seascape.
