Located within the Matsu Religious and Cultural Park, the Giant Mazu Statue took over 10 years to complete and stands an impressive 28.8 meters tall. Many visitors come here to take photos with the statue, and the ship-shaped viewing platform offers stunning ocean vistas. Nearby, you can experience the Blessing Tunnel, where walking through a symbolic palanquin is believed to bring peace and good fortune—similar to the traditional Taiwanese ritual of “crawling under the palanquin.

The adjacent Matsu Jingtianhou Temple is also a popular pilgrimage site. Legend has it that the 9th day of the 9th lunar month marks the ascension of Mazu to heaven. Each year, the Mazu Ascension Festival is held here to honor her spiritual legacy—demonstrating just how deeply rooted Mazu worship is in Matsu’s culture.
