If you want to experience the wartime atmosphere of Matsu, exploring its military tunnels is a must — and the “Beihai Tunnel” is a prime example. Built into the island's naturally tough granite terrain, the tunnel served as an underground harbor for landing craft during times of military preparation. Every deep chisel mark inside the tunnel is a testament to the blood and sweat of the soldiers who carved it by hand. At the entrance stands a statue commemorating the construction efforts, a respectful tribute to those who served.

Visitor Tip: The tunnel is open to the public, but walking access depends on daily tidal changes. Please check the tide schedule before your visit!
