The northernmost point of Taiwan, designated as "The Northern Frontier of the Nation" (國之北疆), is the Beigu Reef (北固礁), situated approximately 600 meters above Hou'ao (后澳) on Xiyin Island. This reef represents the "absolute north" of our national territory.
However, Beigu Reef is subject to tidal shifts, alternately submerging and surfacing. Therefore, even if visitors do not have the opportunity to see the reef itself, they can still confirm their visit to the "Northern Frontier of the Nation" by capturing a photograph with the memorial stone inscribed "國之北疆" on the viewing platform, or with the cross-shaped graphic on the ground that records the reef's precise longitude and latitude.
