To celebrate the inaugural flight of Mandarin Airlines’ Kaohsiung–Matsu Nangan route, Matsu National Scenic Area Headquarters of the Tourism Administration, Ministry of Transportation and Communications, is launching a special “Matsu Headquarters × Kaohsiung–Matsu Route” check-in reward event. Travelers are invited to explore Matsu via this new route, experience the island’s unique charm, and savor its local flavors.
Following the launch of its Taipei–Matsu Nangan route with daily round-trip flights in 2023, Mandarin Airlines is once again expanding its flight network. Starting June 6, 2025, a new regular route between Kaohsiung and Matsu Nangan will be introduced, with reservations officially open from April 15. Departing from Kaohsiung’s Xiaogang Airport, travelers can reach Matsu Nangan Airport in just about 1.5 hours, creating a fast and convenient island travel corridor for passengers in southern Taiwan.
According to the flight schedule, the new route departs every Friday from Kaohsiung’s Xiaogang Airport at 11:15 AM and arrives at Matsu Nangan Airport at 12:55 PM. The return flight leaves Nangan at 1:40 PM and lands in Kaohsiung at 3:20 PM. This route not only provides convenience for military personnel and residents returning home, but also makes it easy for travelers to plan weekend getaways and experience Matsu’s seasonal “Blue Tears” phenomenon during spring and summer.
To celebrate the launch of the new route, Matsu National Scenic Area Headquarters is hosting a special “Matsu Headquarters × Kaohsiung–Matsu Route”check-in gift event. From June 6 to June 27, travelers flying the Kaohsiung–Matsu route who are not registered residents of Lienchiang County can receive a special Matsu-themed gift. Simply present your Kaohsiung–Matsu flight ticket, follow the“GO Go Matsu”Facebook fan page, and upload a check-in photo taken at Nangan Airport to redeem a free 100ml bottle of Dong Yung X'old Kao Liang Liquor, a signature local sorghum liquor. Supplies are limited and available while they last — a rich and aromatic memento of your island journey.
Director Hong Chih-Kuang of the Matsu National Scenic Area Headquarters stated that transportation is the foundation of tourism development. With the launch of the new Kaohsiung–Matsu Nangan route, travel to Matsu will become significantly more convenient, strengthening the island’s connection with the rest of Taiwan. We hope that with more diverse and reliable transportation options, more people will be able to easily visit Matsu — an island rich in natural beauty and cultural charm— to experience the dreamlike Blue Tears, the tranquility of traditional stone houses, and the unique atmosphere shaped by its wartime heritage.
