2023 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Matsu

 

Matsu has four distinct seasons and different seasons bring you different experience.

Especially, Blue Tears has been listed by CNN as one of the top 15 natural scenic wonders of the world. However, Blue Tears is triggered by climate and temperature, so it can only be found by accident.

 

In order not to disappoint our guests and give these lanterns a new lease of life, Matsu National Scenic Area Administration goes out of its way to move the festive lanterns, such as clownfish, rabbits and butterflies into Beihai Recreation Area.

 

The festive lanterns are displayed around Nangan Visitor Center and in the scenic platform area, including clownfish, rabbits, butterflies, ladybugs, squirrels, birds and white radishes chairs. Taking the natural landscape as background, Matsu National Scenic Area Administration displays the festive lanterns into shrubs. You can also sit on the white radishes chairs which are displayed in the scenic platform area and admire the scenery with your other half. With luck, you may see the Blue Tears.

 

Aside from the lanterns, ecology, culture, art, food and LOHAS are the characteristics of Matsu. Beihai Recreation Area where the lanterns are displayed includes Beihai Tunnel and Dahan Stronghold. Beihai Tunnel is the only tunnel where visitors can take a rowboat. While the boat sails into the tunnel, passengers can look for those subtle glows. What an amazing experience!

 

Reminder:

To increase the probability of seeing Blue Tears, do not turn on the flash. During the sailing, please wear life jacket and the passengers in a boat are not allowed to stand. And please follow the instructions from staff.

(1) For independent traveling visitors, registration on the day is accepted.

(2)For tour group, prior reservation is required.
