Eyu Cape is a piece of land that reaches out to the sea on the western part of Qingshuiao in Xiyin. It looks like a big alligator if you look at if from afar - the shape of its mouth, feet and claws are clear. The crouching alligator seems ready to go into the sea. The locals thus call this place Alligator Island, or Crouching Alligator.

A local legend says that a feisty alligator actually came to Qingshuiao through a river, following a school of fish. Thereafter, it affected the lives of fishermen here a lot. The Jade Emperor helped out, forcing the alligator to surrender. The alligator eventually died at the west coast of Qingshuiao, and that’s how Alligator Island came into being.
