In Dongju, make sure you don’t miss the beautiful old houses. Other than Fuzheng Village south of the lighthouse, Dapu Village by the stone inscription is also worth a visit.
With its bay facing the south, Dapu was once the second largest fishery village - second to Fuzheng - in Dongju. Fishery boats, big and small, rested by the bay. Fishermen were many at the time. But since Dongju was no longer a military base and fish became few, its residents slowly moved out. In the last ten years, with effort from devoted individuals and the government, the village was revitalized. Houses were refurbished and made anew.
